Abstract

The article discusses the challenges of conventional rock classification methods in tunnels and introduces a new approach using multiple geological methods and an extension model. It highlights the importance of accurate and timely classification for optimizing tunnel construction and support. The study screens factors affecting surrounding rock and establishes grading standards, then uses dynamic elastic modulus and Poisson’s ratio obtained from tunnel seismic prediction to classify surrounding rock. The model is validated through engineering applications, demonstrating its reliability and potential to revolutionize tunnel construction practices.
