Abstract

Climate change poses significant threats to the livelihoods of tribal communities worldwide, exacerbating existing vulnerabilities and introducing new challenges. This article examines the profound impacts of climate change on various dimensions of tribal livelihoods, including agriculture, water resources, forestry, health, and socioeconomics. It reveals how shifting climatic patterns disrupt traditional agricultural practices, deplete natural resources, and exacerbate health issues, leading to increased food insecurity, water scarcity, and socioeconomic instability. The article also explores the adaptive strategies employed by tribal communities, leveraging indigenous knowledge and community-based approaches to build resilience. It highlights the importance of integrating traditional ecological knowledge with modern scientific techniques to develop effective adaptation frameworks. Furthermore, the article discusses the critical role of policy interventions in supporting tribal communities, emphasizing the need for inclusive governance structures, financial support, and capacity-building initiatives. By addressing data limitations, policy gaps, and socio-cultural barriers, this article provides a roadmap for enhancing the adaptive capacity of tribal livelihoods in the face of climate change, ultimately contributing to more sustainable and resilient futures for these communities.
