Abstract

This article delves into the critical issue of climate change and its profound impact on Indian agriculture, a sector vital for the country's food security and livelihoods. By employing the IPCC's AR5 framework, the study conducts a meticulous district-level risk assessment, identifying hotspots of climate change and proposing adaptation strategies tailored to specific regional vulnerabilities. The research underscores the urgency of integrating adaptation measures into existing development programs or creating dedicated climate-focused initiatives. It emphasizes the importance of understanding future climate scenarios, including changes in temperature, rainfall patterns, and the frequency of extreme events, to inform effective adaptation planning. The study also highlights the significance of addressing vulnerability, exposure, and historical hazards to mitigate the adverse effects of climate change on agriculture. By providing a comprehensive analysis and actionable insights, this article serves as an essential guide for policymakers and stakeholders aiming to enhance the resilience of Indian agriculture in the face of climate change.
