CNOT (controlled NOT), also „gesteuerte Negation“ ist ein Quantengatter, das zwei QBits als Input benötigt: Ein Controlbit (Steuerbit), und ein Targetbit (Zielbit). Die Funktionsweise ist ganz grob gesprochen: So sehr, wie das Controlbit im Zustand |1〉 ist, so sehr wird das Targetbit negiert, d. h., so sehr werden seine Amplituden vertauscht. Das klingt zunächst kryptisch. Es wird in diesem Kapitel erläutert.
