CO2-efficient mobility and affordability are incompatible - this assumption is not necessarily true if we're talking about electrification. Ultimately, the underlying aim of reducing fuel consumption goes hand in hand with reductions in emissions. Whereas effective exhaust aftertreatment systems can now almost completely eliminate nitrogen oxides and particulates, climate-damaging CO2-emissions can only be avoided by reducing the use of fossil fuels. The cost-effectiveness of e-solutions must be assured if they are to be marketed successfully over the long-term in the cost-driven off-highway business. This will be the case when the extra capital cost of an electrified drive system is offset over a machine's product cycle by fuel cost savings. …
