Abstract

The article delves into the synthesis and characterization of polyaniline (PANI) as an electrode material for supercapacitors, highlighting the impact of various substrates and electrochemical parameters on performance. The study focuses on the effects of different activating agents, electrolytes, and electrode pretreatments on the specific capacitance and stability of PANI-based supercapacitors. The authors present comprehensive cyclic voltammetry data and discuss the mechanisms behind the observed electrochemical behaviors. Notably, the research shows that pretreated carbon electrodes with sulfuric acid as the activating agent and electrolyte yield the highest specific capacitance. The article also compares the performance of PANI on different substrates, including carbon, stainless steel, and carbon felt, demonstrating the superior performance of PANI-carbon felt electrodes due to their enhanced porosity and conductivity. The findings underscore the potential of optimizing supercapacitor performance through careful material selection and electrode preparation techniques.
