The subject article, Chiocchini et al. (2010), presents a study of a conceptual hydrogeological model of the Viterbo hydrothermal area in Italy. The study was based on the interpretation of previous research, which included geophysical surveys, stratigraphic logs of wells, geochemical analyses and discharge measurements, and on new investigations, which included six chemical analyses of waters and single discharge measurements for some springs. The new findings of the study concern (1) the recharge area of the Viterbo thermal waters and (2) the negative trend in the discharge of thermal waters over the last hundred years. …
