Abstract

The article critiques the study 'Frictional Energy Dissipation due to Phonon Resonance in Two-Layer Graphene System,' identifying flaws in the equations of motion and proposing a revised model. It argues that the damping factors should be reconsidered and that the resonance behavior observed is more likely due to mechanical resonance rather than phonon resonance. The author suggests that the maxima in dissipation rate can be explained by the increase in system vibration amplitudes, challenging the original interpretation. The analysis is supported by classical mechanics principles and experimental data from atomic-scale friction studies. The article concludes by questioning the relevance of phonon resonance in explaining multiple maxima in friction force, suggesting mechanical resonance as a more plausible explanation.
