Volvo has launched a new mobility brand "M", which is aiming to develop a new generation of mobility services that offer a more intuitive user experience.

The Volvo Car Group has launched the new mobility brand "M" as part of Volvo Car Mobility. In future, all the Swedish carmaker’s worldwide mobility activities are to be bundled here. M intends to offer urban residents and public transport customers an alternative to the traditional car purchase and develop intuitive mobility services. Stockholm is set to serve as M’s base of development. Testing has already been conducted here, and a beta test will follow in autumn. The service will debut in Sweden and the USA in the spring of 2019.

"Volvo Cars is becoming more than just a car company. We recognise that urban consumers are rethinking traditional car ownership. M is part of our answer. We are evolving to become a direct-to-consumer services provider under our new mission 'Freedom to Move'," explains Håkan Samuelsson, Volvo Cars president and CEO.

Learning about the customers’ needs and preferences

In addition, a new app will provide access to vehicles and services on demand in future according to Volvo. "M" is to develop proprietary learning technology that asks users about their specific needs instead of merely informing them where they can pick up a car, thereby personalising the customer relationship. Volvo Car Group’s own car-sharing company Sunfleet will be fully integrated into "M" in 2019, making the new service available to all existing Sunfleet members.
