Valmet Automotive is establishing its Electric Vehicle Systems (EVS) business line, which was launched in 2019, as an independent company with its own leadership and governance structure. The Finnish supplier and contract manufacturer will, however, remain the sole owner and shareholder of this company for the time being. In order to implement its strategy of growing beyond the automotive industry and expanding its scope to include non-automotive off-highway segments, the company has appointed Roberts Abele as CEO and Ville Jaakonsalo as CFO. Abele most recently held the position of Senior Vice President and General Manager of Global Powertrain Controls based in the USA. Jaakonsalo, who is currently still CFO of the defense and technology company Patria, is expected to take up his position in November 2024 at the latest.
