Abstract

The article delves into the challenges and solutions of modern microwave photonic (MWP) links, focusing on the linearization techniques that employ polarizers to suppress IMD3 and IMD5. It compares two modulator-based approaches: phase modulator (PM) and dual-electrode Mach–Zehnder modulator (DE-MZM). Through detailed analysis and simulations, the study shows that the DE-MZM approach outperforms the PM, achieving an impressive 15.1 dB improvement in SFDR. The article also highlights the simplicity and effectiveness of polarization techniques in enhancing link linearity, making it a valuable resource for professionals in the field.
