Abstract

The article delves into the vibration analysis of bi-directional functionally graded beams (BDFG), which are advanced materials with varying properties in two directions. It compares the effectiveness of two numerical techniques, Harmonic Differential Quadrature (HDQ) and Generalized Differential Quadrature (GDQ), in analyzing the natural frequencies of BDFG beams. The study considers four different boundary conditions and explores the impact of geometric parameters, such as thickness-to-length ratio, and material properties, such as exponent parameters, on the natural frequency. The convergence behavior of HDQ and GDQ methods is thoroughly examined, revealing their accuracy and efficiency in solving the vibration problem. The research also validates the methods by comparing the results with other numerical techniques, demonstrating the reliability of HDQ and GDQ for practical applications in engineering fields.
