Abstract

The article 'Comparative Fire Behavior of Reinforced Concrete Beams Made of Different Concrete Strengths' delves into the fire performance of reinforced concrete beams made from normal strength concrete (NSC), high strength concrete (HSC), and ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC). It discusses the varying fire resistance and spalling behaviors of these concretes under standard and design fire exposures. The study reveals that UHPC beams exhibit lower fire resistance and higher spalling due to their dense microstructure and low permeability. Notably, the addition of polypropylene fibers to UHPC is shown to mitigate spalling and enhance fire resistance. The article provides valuable insights into the fire safety of modern concrete types, highlighting the need for further research and design considerations for UHPC in building applications.
