Abstract

This study delves into the seismic performance of high-rise buildings, comparing structures with oblique columns to those with conventional columns. Using ETABS software, the research analyzes key performance indicators such as overturning moment, maximum storey displacement, maximum storey drift, and maximum storey shear. The findings reveal that oblique columns significantly enhance seismic performance by improving load distribution and lateral stiffness. The study also explores the impact of varying column angles on structural behavior, demonstrating that angles less than 90° result in reduced displacement and drift. The research concludes that buildings with oblique columns exhibit superior seismic resistance, making them a promising solution for enhancing the safety and resilience of high-rise structures in earthquake-prone areas.
