Abstract

This study explores the impact of Virtual Reality (VR) and Walking Around YouTube Videos (WAYV) on experience quality and information quality in virtual tourism, specifically targeting Generation Z. The research compares the effectiveness of these two media in promoting cultural heritage tourism, with a focus on the Borobudur Temple in Indonesia. The findings reveal that while both VR and WAYV provide similar levels of experience quality, WAYV is perceived to deliver better information quality. The study highlights the complementary roles of VR and WAYV in virtual tourism, suggesting that their applications should be tailored to specific objectives and user needs. Tourism practitioners can leverage VR for immersive and interactive experiences, while WAYV is more suitable for informational campaigns where clarity and accessibility are crucial. The research underscores the importance of considering the unique strengths of each medium to optimize user engagement and satisfaction in cultural heritage tourism promotion.
