Abstract

The chapter delves into the comparison of AI-based task planning approaches, specifically AJAN and RAFCON, for simulating human-robot collaboration. It highlights the importance of predictable human behavior for robots to adapt tasks dynamically, emphasizing the need for agile and intuitive high-level planning in time-dependent process flows. The study analyzes existing frameworks and their capabilities, including AJAN's web-based behavior modeling and RAFCON's state machine-based operation sequences. It also explores the potential of combining these approaches for optimal performance. The chapter further investigates the expressiveness, productivity, and applicability of these tools through a survey of engineering students, revealing insights into their ease of use and understanding. Ultimately, it concludes by emphasizing the potential of graphical approaches to simplify task planning and role distribution in hybrid manufacturing environments, paving the way for future hybrid approaches that require minimal programming knowledge.
