Abstract

The article delves into the comparison of pore characteristics and constraints of marine-terrestrial mud shale, focusing on shale gas occurrence mechanisms and development efficiency. It investigates the Lower Paleozoic marine shale in the Upper Yangtze Block and the Mesozoic continental shale in the Ordos Basin, comparing pore types, pore structure parameters, and influencing factors. The study reveals differences in pore types and structure parameters between continental and marine shale, with marine shale showing fewer intraparticle pores and more dissolution pores. The research also examines the impact of mineral composition and thermal maturity on pore structure, finding that higher concentrations of brittle minerals decrease pore volume and specific surface area, while clay minerals have a weak positive correlation. Additionally, the article explores the relationship between total organic carbon and pore structure, demonstrating a positive correlation between TOC and specific surface area. The study concludes with a comparison of pore characteristics across different horizons, providing valuable insights into shale gas exploration and development in various geological conditions.
