Abstract

We consider exact probability distributions of demand and selling time for compound Poisson demand process with exponential batch size’s distribution in the newsvendor problem’s framework and compare the results with the normal and diffusion approximation respectively. Also we receive the inventory level’s distribution for on-off control of inventory level when the process of delivering the product to outlets is also a compound Poisson independent from the first one.
