Abstract

The chapter delves into the challenges of deterministic modeling in petroleum reservoir simulation, highlighting the inherent contradictions and limitations of this approach. It argues that manual history matching and limited initial data lead to unreliable forecasts. The author proposes an adaptive approach inspired by game theory and information theory principles, which uses automated modeling and multidimensional fuzzy-logical matrices to provide more realistic forecast variations. This method has been successfully applied for nearly two decades, offering a promising alternative to traditional deterministic and stochastic approaches.
