Abstract

The article delves into the critical role of metal anchoring, particularly the immobilization of metal nanoparticles, in catalysis, environmental remediation, and sensor development. It addresses the limitations of conventional methods, such as poor metal dispersion and weak binding affinity, which hinder the effectiveness of catalytic materials. The study introduces a novel triazine-based polymer, 2-[(para-tolyl) oxy]-4,6-dichlorotriazine, functionalized with ethylenediamine, which demonstrates exceptional metal-binding properties. The synthesis process involves condensation polymerization, resulting in a stable polymer matrix suitable for anchoring palladium nanoparticles (Pd NPs). The successful incorporation of Pd NPs onto the polymer surface is confirmed through spectroscopic and microscopic techniques, highlighting the polymer's ability to enhance nanoparticle dispersion and stability. The article also reviews related work on metal anchoring solutions, including polymer-based supports, inorganic materials, and magnetic composites, and discusses the challenges and future directions in the field. The comprehensive characterization of the polymer-Pd nanocomposite, including UV–vis spectroscopy, DLS, TEM, TGA, and XRD analysis, provides valuable insights into its structural and thermal properties, making it a promising candidate for advanced catalytic applications.
