Abstract

This study delves into the application of composite particle swarm optimization (CPSO) for the efficient composition of multi-modal transportation services in smart urban networks. The research focuses on evaluating the performance of the CPSO-Rec algorithm against other algorithms such as PSO-Rec, CRO-Rec, FFCA-Rec, and FFD-Rec. The key areas of investigation include the impact of network size, VaaS fleet size, solution adjustment, trip complexity, optimization efficiency, and VaaS availability on the quality of transportation plans. The study employs a synthetic dataset generated using Python and Gretel.ai to simulate real-world scenarios. Experimental results demonstrate that CPSO-Rec consistently outperforms other algorithms in optimizing trip plans based on metrics such as cost, time, availability, and reputation. The analysis highlights the robustness and efficiency of CPSO-Rec in handling complex trip requests and adapting to dynamic urban environments. The findings underscore the potential of CPSO-Rec as a promising optimization method for smart transportation systems, offering significant improvements in solution quality and computational efficiency.
