Abstract

This study delves into the relationship between personality traits and cognitive failures in women across different age groups, with a particular focus on the mediating role of conscientiousness. The research identifies that conscientiousness acts as a negative mediator, reducing cognitive failures as women age. The study also explores how other personality traits, such as neuroticism, extraversion, agreeableness, and openness, influence cognitive performance and failures. The findings suggest that conscientiousness may serve as a compensatory mechanism for cognitive decline, highlighting its protective function. The study's cross-sectional design and the inclusion of a diverse age range provide a comprehensive overview of how personality traits interact with cognitive aging in women. The results offer valuable insights into the potential for targeted interventions to promote healthy cognitive aging.
