Conservation and Management of Historical Sites Utilizing HBIM Data by Determining the Frequency of Using Information and Level of Model Development

This chapter delves into the application of Heritage Building Information Modeling (HBIM) for the conservation and management of historical sites, emphasizing the importance of digital data management. It explores the challenges and solutions related to the maintenance and operation of cultural heritage sites, highlighting the role of Terrestrial Laser Scanning (TLS) in acquiring geometric and material information for 3D modeling. The chapter also discusses the integration of HBIM with the Common Data Environment (CDE) and the development of a national digital database for cultural heritage in Vietnam. A significant focus is placed on determining the frequency of information use and the appropriate level of model development (LOD) for different building components. The methodology involves a comprehensive review of literature, expert surveys, and a case study on the Hung Kings Temple in Ho Chi Minh City. The results provide valuable insights into the optimal use of BIM component data throughout the project lifecycle, facilitating efficient asset management practices. The chapter concludes with recommendations for future research and the broader application of HBIM in heritage management.
