Abstract

The chapter focuses on the construction and calibration of a low-speed variable velocity profile wind tunnel, utilizing a framework of 100 DC fans arranged in a 10x10 grid. The wind tunnel is designed to actively control the velocity profile of the air inside the test section, enabling precise measurements of aerodynamic forces and aeroelastic responses. The calibration process involves evaluating parameters such as mean velocity and turbulence intensity at various locations within the 2.4-meter-long tunnel. The chapter also discusses the significance of unsteady aerodynamics in applications such as wind turbines and micro air vehicles, highlighting the challenges and advancements in this field. Additionally, the chapter presents experimental results and comparisons with existing research, providing valuable insights into the dynamic behavior of low-speed wind tunnels.
