Abstract

This chapter delves into the intricate landscape of consumer perspectives on electric mobility, focusing on the motivators and barriers that influence the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs). Environmental consciousness, economic benefits, and technological fascination are key drivers pushing consumers toward EVs. However, significant hurdles such as range anxiety, inadequate charging infrastructure, high upfront costs, and concerns about battery life and resale value continue to impede widespread adoption. The chapter explores how these factors vary across different regions and cultures, influenced by technological development, environmental awareness, and government policies. It also highlights the growing interest and influence of the next generation of consumers, particularly Gen Z and Gen Alpha, who prioritize sustainability and advanced technology.
