Vehicles and objects are currently localized using separate solutions for indoor and outdoor environments. Bertrandt describes an approach which can be used in parallel both inside and out and also provides consistent positioning in the decimeter range during the transition from one area to another. In order to achieve this, the data from different sensor systems are fused. Ultra-wideband is used to determine the absolute position of the vehicle if satellite systems are not fully available.
