Abstract

The article presents a groundbreaking approach to conversational emotion prediction, rooted in the Appraisal Theory of Emotion. It addresses the challenges of understanding and predicting emotional states in dialogues, which are crucial for enhancing human-machine interactions. The proposed model, CEPA, leverages deep learning techniques to capture complex emotional features and simulate the iterative process of emotion regulation. By considering both individual and environmental factors, the model achieves superior performance in predicting future emotional states. The article provides an in-depth analysis of the model's architecture, including the use of BERT for semantic information extraction and LSTM for capturing long-term dependencies. It also discusses the iterative evaluation module, which simulates the cognitive and conscious processing of emotional responses. Experimental results on three diverse datasets demonstrate the model's effectiveness and superiority over traditional methods. The article concludes with a discussion on the implications of the findings and potential future directions for research in dialogue emotion prediction.
