Open entry into the world of AMG: The CLE 53 4Matic+ Cabriolet is also powered by a twin-charged six-cylinder in-line petrol engine.

The "smallest" two-door model from Mercedes-AMG is now also available as a convertible. As with the Coupé, the front features the AMG radiator and the large lower air intake as well as outer air intakes with two transverse louvres. The track has been widened by 58 mm at the front and 75 mm at the rear compared to the standard convertible, while the front and rear fenders are flared. The alloy wheels measure between 19 and 20". The standard acoustic soft top made of fabric opens and closes in 20 seconds up to a speed of 60 km/h. It is operated by the electric wind deflector. It is complemented by the Aircap electric wind deflector system, which consists of a retractable wind deflector on the windshield and an automatic wind deflector behind the rear head restraints. The Airscarf headroom heating system is also available. The appearance package includes additional flics on the front and rear aprons, a more pronounced spoiler lip on the trunk lid and a diffuser panel between the tailpipe trims.

In the interior, the driver looks at a 12.3" display, while the central display measures 11.9". The AMG model comes with an AMG steering wheel, integral leatherette seats, red seat belts and trim elements in high-gloss carbon fiber. To prevent the seats from heating up too much in summer, they have a special coating that reflects near-infrared waves. Leather upholstery or performance seats can also be ordered on request. The trunk has a volume of 385 liters (295 liters with the roof open).

Twin-Turbocharged Six-Cylinder Engine

The M 256M in-line six-cylinder turbo engine is a variant of the 3.0-litre petrol engine and offers optimized combustion chambers with redesigned intake and exhaust ports, new piston rings, optimized injection and a new turbocharger plus electric auxiliary compressor (eZV). The power output is 330 kW (449 hp). The maximum torque of 560 Nm can be increased to 600 Nm for 12 seconds via overboost. The integrated starter generator briefly delivers an additional 17 kW (23 hp) of power and 205 Nm of torque and also feeds the 48 V on-board electrical system. 

Power is transmitted via the AMG Speedshift TCT 9G transmission to the AMG Performance 4Matic+ variable all-wheel drive. The convertible sprints to 100 km/h in 4.4 s, and even in 4.2 s with the Race Start function (in the optional AMG Dynamic Plus package). The top speed of 250 km/h can be increased to 270 km/h with the optional AMG Driver's Package. The driver can choose between the five AMG drive programs "Slippery", "Comfort", "Sport", "Sport+" and "Individual". The AMG Dynamics driving dynamics control can be set to the "Basic", "Advanced" and "Pro" levels and affects the control of ESP or all-wheel drive. 

Rear-Axle Steering as Standard

The "Ride Control" steel spring suspension offers adaptive adjustable damping and three damper modes: "Comfort", "Sport" and "Sport+". The high-performance braking system works with perforated and internally ventilated 370 x 36 mm discs with four-piston fixed callipers at the front and internally ventilated 360 x 26 mm discs with single-piston floating callipers at the rear axle. The three-stage parameter steering is coupled with the rear axle steering, which improves agility when the wheels turn in opposite directions and increases driving stability when the wheels turn in parallel. The optional AMG Dynamic Plus package provides even more sportiness, including a performance steering wheel with drive mode buttons, the Race drive program with drift mode, active engine mounts and red-painted brake callipers.
