Abstract

The chapter delves into the intricate relationship between weld bead geometry and temperature circulation in Nd:YAG laser welding of stainless steel. It begins with an introduction to the significance of stainless steel in various industries and the need for precise welding parameters. The authors review previous research on the correlation of weld bead geometry with process parameters and present their experimental examination of penetration depth. They utilize SS 304L stainless steel and employ the Taguchi method to optimize welding parameters. The chapter also introduces innovative image processing techniques for measuring weld bead geometry and a novel temperature data logger for real-time temperature measurement during welding. The results highlight the importance of temperature distribution in determining weld quality and penetration depth. The chapter concludes by emphasizing the effectiveness of the proposed methods in reducing errors and optimizing welding processes.
