Abstract

The article explores the corrosion activity of steel equipment and pipelines in plants extracting CO2-containing gases. It delves into the complex physicochemical processes of carbon-dioxide corrosion (CDC) and the factors affecting it, such as moisture, mineralization, pH, and temperature. The study presents laboratory test results demonstrating high corrosion rates in carbon and low-alloy steels under these conditions. It also discusses the importance of accurate evaluation and comparison of corrosion rates to select appropriate anticorrosion measures. The findings highlight the urgency of addressing CDC in the oil and gas industry to prevent unexpected failures and significant repair costs.
