Abstract

The article delves into the corrosion behavior of friction-stir-welded medium strength steel, focusing on the microstructural changes at the weld nugget. It compares the corrosion resistance of friction-stir-welded specimens with those conventionally welded, highlighting the influence of welding parameters on the resulting microstructure and corrosion behavior. The study employs advanced characterization techniques such as electron backscattered diffraction (EBSD) and electrochemical corrosion tests to provide a detailed understanding of the material's properties. The findings offer crucial insights for optimizing welding processes and enhancing the durability of welded structures in various industries.
