Abstract

The study investigates the corrosion resistance of Ti50Al48Mo2 alloy in relation to its lamellar eutectoid orientation, controlled through directional solidification and thermal processing. The research highlights the influence of growth velocity and temperature gradient on microstructure evolution and corrosion behavior. Electrochemical tests reveal that the alloy's corrosion resistance improves significantly when the lamellar eutectoid orientation is parallel to the directional solidification direction. The findings offer valuable insights into optimizing the mechanical and corrosion properties of Ti-Al based alloys for aerospace and marine applications.
