Compact high-performance sports car now with ducktail and more power: BMW M GmbH has unveiled the new BMW M2 CS.
BMW M2 CS
BMW AG
The new BMW M2 CS is based on the second generation of the BMW M2 and is 4,587 mm long, 1,887 mm wide, and 1,395 mm high. The M2 CS features visible carbon fiber on the exterior mirror caps, a standard carbon roof, and a CS-specific rear diffuser. The most striking feature is the carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) rear lid with integrated ducktail. Inside, the center console is made of CFRP. The weight-optimized, heated carbon fiber bucket seats with leather upholstery are electrically adjustable. The standard Alcantara steering wheel, which is heated as an option, features shift paddles and M buttons for adjusting the vehicle setup. The BMW Live Cockpit Professional with M-specific displays includes a head-up display and an augmented view on the 14.9-inch Control Display.
Many exterior and interior components made of CFRP and forged light alloy wheels save around 30 kg compared to the standard M2. As a result, the M2 CS weighs 1.7 tons according to DIN. The front axle is fitted with 19-inch wheels with 275/35 ZR19 track tires, while the rear axle has 20-inch wheels with 285/30 ZR20 tires. An M Performance silencer system with carbon and titanium tailpipe trims, developed specifically for CS models, is available as an option.
More Power for the M TwinPower Turbo
The 3.0-litre engine with two mono-scroll turbochargers features details derived from racing, such as the closed-deck crankcase with a bushing-free design, the forged lightweight crankshaft, cylinder liners with an iron coating applied using arc wire spraying (LDS) and a cylinder head core manufactured using a 3D printing process. The inline six-cylinder engine delivers 37 kW (50 hp) more than in the current BMW M2, bringing its total output to 390 kW (530 hp). Torque also increases by 50 to 650 Nm. It is available in the speed range between 2,650 and 5,730 rpm. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via the standard 8-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic. The shift characteristics can be varied in three stages using the Drivelogic button integrated into the gear selector. The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h takes 3.8 seconds. The top speed of the special model, which comes with the M Driver's Package as standard, is electronically limited to 302 km/h.
The adapted adaptive M suspension has been lowered by 8 mm, and the settings for the DSC driving stability control and M Dynamic Mode have also been optimized for the demands of track use. An M compound brake system with red-painted brake calipers is standard. An M carbon-ceramic brake system with red brake calipers is available as an option. The BMW M2 CS is manufactured alongside the BMW M2 Racing at the San Luis Potosí plant in Mexico. The limited-edition special model will be available from late summer 2025 at a price of €115,000 in Germany.
