Abstract

The study investigates the melting and motion of alloys in a ladle furnace during steelmaking processes, focusing on the impact of bottom-blown gas flow rates. Using coupled CFD-DEM simulations, the authors analyze the melting behavior and trajectories of alloys, aiming to identify optimal addition positions and times. The research addresses the understudied area of simultaneous melting and motion of alloys, offering practical guidance for alloying operations in steelmaking. The article also compares the findings with existing experimental results and mathematical models, highlighting the need for more accurate and comprehensive simulations to understand the complex dynamics within the ladle furnace.
