Abstract

The article delves into the cryptanalysis of a key exchange protocol based on a modified tropical structure, a field of growing importance due to the advent of quantum computers. The authors explore the vulnerabilities of the protocol, demonstrating how the almost linear periodicity of irreducible tropical matrices can be exploited to recover shared keys efficiently. They propose three attack algorithms, with the third algorithm showcasing significant improvements in both speed and success rate. The paper also discusses the implications for the security of the protocol and suggests areas for future research, such as exploring the properties of irreducible tropical matrices with large full periods.
