Abstract

The study focuses on the crystallization behaviors of CaF2–CaO–Al2O3–MgO–B2O3 slag used in electroslag remelting of B-containing rack steel. It investigates the impact of B2O3 on the crystallization temperature, crystallization sequence, and morphology of crystalline phases. The addition of B2O3 significantly affects the crystallization behaviors, leading to changes in the crystallization temperature, sequence, and morphology of the phases. The study utilizes differential scanning calorimetry, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive spectroscopy, and FactSage 8.2 for comprehensive analysis. The findings provide valuable insights into optimizing the composition of slag to enhance the quality of electroslag remelted rack steel.
