Abstract

The chapter delves into the critical issue of accounting education in higher education institutions, focusing on the perceptions of professors from Greek universities. It examines the alignment of curriculum content with market needs and the skills required by graduates to succeed in the labor market. The study identifies key skills such as basic computer knowledge, problem-solving abilities, and teamwork as essential for accounting graduates. It also highlights the importance of a holistic approach to curriculum development that incorporates both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. The research reveals a mismatch between the skills taught in universities and those demanded by employers, emphasizing the need for curriculum reform. Additionally, the chapter discusses the significance of technological knowledge and the ability to adapt to working groups, underscoring the importance of preparing students for the challenges of the modern globalized economy.
