Abstract

The article introduces the Nodal Line Active Modulation (NLAM) method for damage identification in structures, addressing the limitations of traditional vibration-based methods. By modulating and highlighting nodal lines of operational deflection shapes, the NLAM method can detect and locate damage more accurately and efficiently. The method is validated through numerical simulations and experimental tests on an aluminum plate and a CFRP composite plate, demonstrating its robustness and applicability across different materials and structures. The NLAM method offers a significant advancement in structural health monitoring by providing a more reliable and convenient way to identify damage, particularly in complex structures.
