Datenwert und Datenminimalismus: Wege zu nachhaltiger künstlicher Intelligenz

Zusammenfassung

Daten gelten als das neue Öl oder das neue Gold. Insbesondere in der Entwicklung der künstlichen Intelligenz (KI) sind Daten ein nahezu verschwenderisch eingesetzter Rohstoff. Wir zeigen, dass die immer weiter wachsende Datenflut nicht zu immer weiter wachsenden KI-Systemen führen darf, wenn wir eine nachhaltige Entwicklung anstreben. Diese Nachhaltigkeit in der Datenwirtschaft bezieht sich auf soziale, ökologische und ökonomische Aspekte gleichermaßen. Wir wollen Datenminimalismus als Weg zu einer Postwachstumsstrategie für KI in der Data Economy etablieren: Es gilt, möglichst wenige Daten so gezielt einzusetzen, dass keine Qualitätseinbußen zu erwarten sind. Um das zu erreichen, muss zunächst der Wert von Daten detailliert bestimmt werden, damit die Datengrundlagen auf ihre wirklich gewinnbringenden Teile reduziert werden können. Wie dieser Datenwert bestimmt und wie viele Daten dadurch eingespart werden könnten, zeigen wir anhand eines Experiments mit einem KI-System für Produktempfehlungen im E-Commerce.
