Abstract

This chapter presents Deblur e-NeRF, a groundbreaking method to reconstruct Neural Radiance Fields (NeRFs) from motion-blurred events captured by event cameras. Event cameras offer unique advantages over standard cameras, especially in high-speed and low-light conditions, but they suffer from motion blur. Deblur e-NeRF addresses this issue by introducing a physically-accurate pixel bandwidth model that accounts for event motion blur under varying speeds and lighting conditions. The method also includes a discrete-time variant of the model, a numerical solution for its transient response, and an importance sampling strategy for computational implementation. Additionally, it incorporates a novel threshold-normalized total variation loss and a translated-gamma correction to enhance the reconstruction process. Experiments on both synthetic and real event sequences demonstrate the effectiveness of Deblur e-NeRF in reconstructing blur-minimal NeRFs, outperforming state-of-the-art methods. The code, event simulator, and synthetic event dataset are open-sourced, inviting further research and innovation in the field.
