The electrification of drives is becoming more and more important also in the field of mobile machinery. The Institute for Machine Elements and Systems Engineering and the Institute for Fluid Power Drives and Systems at RWTH Aachen University are jointly researching innovative electro-hydraulic power supply systems for linear actuators of mobile work machines. Using high speed components, a highly compact hydraulic power unit is developed which, thanks to its decentralized mounting directly on the cylinder, enables a reduction in throttling losses both through pipes and hoses and through hydraulic resistance controls in comparison to conventional central hydraulic power supply systems. …
