Abstract

The chapter delves into the critical role of elastic deformation in tool and workpiece during metal forming, particularly in plate compression. It utilizes finite element analyses to investigate the influence of material combinations, friction coefficients, and plate dimensions on deformation behavior during unloading. The study reveals that high friction and large plate diameter-to-thickness ratios lead to smaller elastic recovery points, while the use of crown dies can improve product flatness. The chapter also highlights the importance of avoiding divided flow during loading to achieve optimal product quality.
