Abstract

This chapter explores the design and development of an automated sludge removal system for boilers in the dyeing industry using IoT technology. The project addresses the challenges of manual sludge removal, which is time-consuming, labor-intensive, and poses significant safety risks. By leveraging Node MCU, load cells, and temperature sensors, the proposed system automates the sludge removal process, enhancing efficiency and reducing reliance on manual labor. The methodology involves the use of gate valves controlled by Node MCU to remove sludge without manual intervention. The system operates automatically at preset intervals, with the microcontroller activating the gate valves and the temperature sensor monitoring the boiler's internal temperature. The hardware setup includes components such as a boiling tank, DC motor, temperature sensor, coil heater, gate valve, limit switch, and load cell. The software setup utilizes Blynk software for remote monitoring and control. The results demonstrate the effectiveness of the automated system in removing sludge and improving boiler efficiency. The chapter also discusses the potential benefits of the designed system, including increased efficiency, reduced costs, and improved safety. Future scope includes the integration of solar heaters and solenoid valves for further automation and efficiency.
