Abstract

The article delves into the design and optimization of a graphene-silicon hybrid micro-disk biosensor within a square cavity, leveraging whispering gallery mode (WGM) for high sensitivity and quality factors. The theoretical model and numerical simulations, performed using the three-dimensional finite difference time domain (FDTD) method, reveal the structure's potential for detecting nanoparticles by monitoring changes in the refractive index. Key findings include the optimal waveguide-disk distance and the significant influence of graphene layers on sensitivity and quality factors. The study concludes that the proposed design outperforms previous structures, offering promising applications in medical, chemical, and health fields.
