Abstract

This article introduces the design of a tunable gain CMOS current feedback instrumentation amplifier tailored for space applications. The design focuses on achieving high Common Mode Rejection Ratio (CMRR) and low power consumption, essential for accurate signal amplification in front-end circuitry. The proposed design utilizes a bandwidth and transconductance enhanced folded cascode operational amplifier (BTE-FC) and a common mode feedback (CMFB) circuit to achieve stability and high performance. The amplifier's gain can be adjusted electronically, offering a wide range of tunability. The design is validated through extensive simulations, demonstrating excellent performance in terms of CMRR, power dissipation, and noise efficiency. The proposed instrumentation amplifier is particularly suited for harsh environments, making it ideal for space applications and other demanding scenarios.
