Abstract

This chapter delves into the design and effectiveness of passive dynamic absorbers for attenuating upper limb tremors in Parkinson's patients. It begins with an introduction to the problem of limb tremors and the need for effective non-invasive solutions. The authors present a detailed analytical model of the upper limb, incorporating mass, inertia, and muscle activation dynamics. Two configurations of dynamic vibration absorbers are tested: dual parallel absorbers (DPA) and triple parallel absorbers (TPA). The study includes a thorough analysis of the absorbers' design, positioning, and performance, with experimental results demonstrating significant tremor reduction. The chapter concludes with a discussion on the optimal placement of absorbers and the potential for further advancements in tremor management technology.
