Abstract

This chapter delves into the development of bond-slip relationships for adhesively anchored GFRP bars using hinge beam tests, a critical aspect of structural rehabilitation. The study compares the performance of epoxy-anchored GFRP bars with non-adhesive anchors, revealing that while both follow similar bond-slip trends, adhesively anchored bars exhibit slightly lower bond strength and different failure mechanisms. The research introduces a novel method for constructing hinge beam tests, demonstrating its effectiveness through detailed experimental procedures and results. The findings suggest that increased hole roughness could eliminate the reduced average strength observed in adhesively anchored bars. Additionally, the chapter emphasizes the need for further studies to refine the fabrication process and gather sufficient data for future design code provisions, ultimately aiming to advance the application of adhesively anchored GFRP bars in structural rehabilitation.
