The matching of a turbocharging system to the specific requirements of an entire engine with regard to fuel consumption, emissions and service life is a key element of engine development. This is the reason for taking the decision to initiate in-house turbocharger component development as the New Engine Generation (NEG) engine series of Daimler AG was being developed.
