Abstract

This study delves into the musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) prevalent among Filipino tattoo artists, highlighting the critical need for ergonomic interventions. Through a thorough analysis using the Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) and the Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire (NMQ), the research identifies the most affected body parts, with back and neck pain being the most common. The study observes that inefficient workstation setups, improper postures, and lack of ergonomic support contribute significantly to these issues. To address these challenges, the researchers propose an ergonomically designed workstation tailored to the needs of Filipino tattoo artists. This workstation aims to reduce the risk of MSDs by incorporating adjustable features, proper task lighting, and easy-reach tool organization. The proposed solution is expected to substantially lower the REBA scores, indicating a significant reduction in risk. By implementing this ergonomic workstation, the study aims to enhance the health and productivity of tattoo artists, ensuring a more conducive work environment without compromising their creativity or the quality of their work.
