Abstract

This chapter delves into the development of a new austenitic stainless steel grade, Supra 316plus, specifically designed for more efficient copper electroplating. The text highlights the enhanced mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of this new grade, comparing it to the widely used Supra 316L. It explores the chemical composition, microstructure, and mechanical properties of the new steel, emphasizing its improved yield strength and elastic deflection capabilities. The chapter also details the copper electroplating tests conducted, including sample preparation, plating conditions, and adhesion force measurements. The results demonstrate the superior performance of Supra 316plus in terms of grain size, mechanical strength, and copper adhesion, making it a promising candidate for industrial electrolytic copper recovery processes.
